HOW THIS

Became this.........

As I've previously mentioned, I have been sorting through some old paintings and found them less than stellar,to say the least.  So, I'm painting over them.

I think that most artists who do this first give the old painting a good coat of Gesso before they start a new effort.  I don't.  Because............

a.  I'm lazy.
b.  I'm out of Gesso

and.....more importantly

c.  I really like what often happens when the old painting shines through in some places.

Like so.........

Using the colors I already had out on my palette, I just started slapping paint around with my biggest brush.

Slap.  Slap. Slap.

But, see that one bright spot in what is turning into a sky?
See those mountains that seem to be forming on the right?
See that tree which seems to want to live in the left foreground?

I thought you did.

I did, too.

And after a little more paint slapping....it turned into this.

RIVER OF GOLD
24 X 36

I'm not sure I'll even buy any more Gesso.

I am grateful for these happy surprises!

This painting is available for purchase through my website.
